Store Associate

Part Time and Full Time  ·  New Orleans, Louisiana

ABOUT MARQUET SHOPPE

Located in a restored historic building on Magazine Street in New Orleans, Marquet was envisioned by Founder & Interior Designer, Jenny Vorhoff. Marquet is built on a simple belief: that shopping for your home should feel like discovery. Every product is hand-sourced and thoughtfully edited, from vintage furniture and artisan textiles to tabletop treasures and everyday objects worth loving. In a world of fast fashion and mass production, Marquet takes the long way around, seeking out the exceptional, the storied, and the singular.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a Store Associate who brings warmth, energy, and genuine care to every customer who walks through our doors. This is a hands-on, floor-focused role for someone who takes pride in a beautifully kept space and enjoys helping people find exactly the right thing. You're reliable, attentive, and always ready to pitch in.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Customer Experience

  • Welcome every visitor with a warm, unhurried, discovery-led approach that defines the Marquet experience.
  • Help customers find what they're looking for, answer questions, and assist with purchases at checkout. Handle customer inquiries and requests with graciousness and efficiency.
  • Be a consistent, energizing presence on the sales floor, including weekends.

Store Floor and Presentation

  • Maintain the visual integrity of each room: product placement, cleanliness, and display always to standard.
  • Keep the store tidy and welcoming throughout the day — straightening displays, dusting, and resetting as needed.
  • Support restocking and replenishment on the floor so shelves always look their best.

Operations Support

  • Assist with day-to-day store operations including opening and closing procedures, POS, and cash handling.
  • Support inventory processes: receiving, tagging, and restocking product.
  • If you see something that needs doing, you do it. No task is beneath you. We all have a “sweep the floors” mentality.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Prior customer-facing experience and an appreciation of aesthetics.
  • A genuine passion for home, product, and thoughtful presentation.
  • A scrappy, can-do attitude: you notice what needs doing and you do it.
  • Exceptional reliability.
  • Weekend availability.
  • A positive, collaborative spirit and genuine pride in the work.

THE DETAILS

  • Part Time and Full Time. Reports to the Store Director.
  • Based in-store on Magazine Street, New Orleans. Opening September 2026.
  • Weekend availability preferred.

If you are someone who finds joy in a beautifully made object, takes pride in a perfectly set table, and believes that a well-run shop is its own kind of art, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send your resume and a brief note to hello@marquetshoppe.com.

Assistant Manager

Full-Time  ·  40 Hours/Week  ·  New Orleans, Louisiana

ABOUT MARQUET SHOPPE

Located in a restored historic building on Magazine Street in New Orleans, Marquet was envisioned by Founder & Interior Designer, Jenny Vorhoff. Marquet is built on a simple belief: that shopping for your home should feel like discovery. Every product is hand-sourced and thoughtfully edited, from vintage furniture and artisan textiles to tabletop treasures and everyday objects worth loving. In a world of fast fashion and mass production, Marquet takes the long way around, seeking out the exceptional, the storied, and the singular.

THE ROLE

We're looking for an Assistant Manager who is equal parts enthusiast, operator, and storyteller. Reporting directly to the Store Director, you will be a key presence on the floor and a dependable steward of the Marquet experience. This is a hands-on role for someone who moves through a store with purpose: styling a shelf, helping a customer find exactly the right thing, capturing a moment worth sharing. You have an eye for beauty and a mind for business.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Support the Floor & Customer Experience

  • Deliver the warm, unhurried, discovery-led experience that defines Marquet, for every visitor, every time.
  • Maintain the visual integrity of each room: product placement, cleanliness, and display always to standard.
  • Handle customer inquiries, special orders, and any issues with graciousness and efficiency.
  • Be a consistent, energizing presence on the sales floor, including weekends.

Tell the Marquet Story

  • Actively engage with Marquet's social media presence, capturing product, people, and the life of the store with a point of view.
  • Contribute to the visual and narrative language of the brand across Instagram and other platforms.
  • Help draft customer communications and support in-store events and activations.

Operations & Inventory

  • Support day-to-day store operations including opening and closing procedures, POS, and cash handling.
  • Assist with inventory processes: receiving, tagging, restocking, and maintaining accurate stock levels.
  • Partner with the Store Director and Jenny on merchandising, buying, and restocking decisions.
  • If you see something that needs doing, you do it. No task is beneath you. We all have a “sweep the floor” mentality.

Grow with the Business

  • Develop a deep understanding of Marquet's product assortment, brand voice, and customer.
  • Bring curiosity to the business side of retail: sales patterns, product performance, what's resonating.
  • Grow into increased responsibility over time as the team and business develop.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years of experience. We're open to different backgrounds, but customer-facing experience and an appreciation of aesthetics is a must.
  • A genuine passion for home, product, and the art of curation.
  • Social media fluency and enthusiasm. You see the store through a lens and want to share it.
  • A scrappy, can-do attitude: you notice what needs doing and you do it.
  • Exceptional reliability.
  • Weekend availability (non-negotiable).
  • A positive, collaborative spirit and genuine pride in the work.

THE DETAILS

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week. Reports to the Store Director.
  • Based in-store on Magazine Street, New Orleans. Opening September 2026.
  • Weekend availability required.
